Muay Thai
In the last few months, I’ve started doing Muay Thai. For those unfamiliar with the name, it is similar to kickboxing but with the addition of elbow and knee strikes.
My body build-type is tall and thin- ideal for running. Doing things that involve lots of arm strength is tough, but for that very reason it is meaningful.
The Muay Thai classes I go to have lots of friendly people that have a good balance of being relaxed but at the same time, serious. Even in the six or so classes I have been to so far, I have gone from being able to do 10 press-ups at a time to 20.
I think one of the best things about it is the sense of fulfilment. You feel connected with your body doing this- you feel alive!
I am planning to continue with Muay Thai into the future, and eventually have arms and an upper body that are reasonably strong.
